A-G discontinues Ambulance case against Forson, Jakpa
A statement from the Attorney-General’s office, issued on Thursday, January 23, 2025, confirmed the discontinuation of the case.

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has officially dropped the high-profile ambulance case involving former Majority Leader, current Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and businessman Richard Jakpa.
A statement from the Attorney-General’s office, issued on Thursday, January 23, 2025, confirmed the discontinuation of the case.
This decision follows a ruling by the Court of Appeal, which acquitted and discharged both Dr. Ato Forson and Jakpa. In a split 2-1 judgment, the appellate court overturned an earlier directive from the trial court that required them to present their defense.
The case revolved around allegations of financial loss amounting to €2.37 million in connection with the procurement of ambulances for the Ghanaian government. However, with this latest development, all charges have now been dismissed.
Additionally, the Attorney-General’s office acknowledged that it had initially filed a notice of appeal against the Court of Appeal’s ruling on July 30, 2024. Nevertheless, the statement clarified that the state would not be pursuing the appeal any further.
