President John Mahama has announced that Cabinet has approved the 24-Hour Authority Bill, paving the way for its submission to Parliament. He described the move as a decisive step toward realizing Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy Vision.

At a media engagement at the Presidency in Accra, the President revealed that several institutions were already operating round-the-clock services in line with the policy. The Ghana Publishing Company, for instance, has transitioned fully into a 24-hour operation. The Passport Office and Ghana’s foreign missions have also rolled out continuous service delivery to improve efficiency in passport processing. Additionally, the Tema and Takoradi ports are now functioning 24 hours a day, easing congestion and accelerating trade processes.

To strengthen security under the initiative, a dedicated 24-Hour Economy Policy Secretariat has been established at the Ministry of Interior to coordinate safety measures nationwide. According to President Mahama, these measures demonstrate Ghana’s commitment to building an economy that is resilient, inclusive, and rich in job opportunities.
