2024 Joint Transition Team inaugurated
This event marked the formal initiation of the process to facilitate a seamless handover of power. Outgoing President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of complying with the Presidential Transition Act to maintain Ghana’s reputation as a stronghold of democracy.

The Joint Transition Team made up of representatives from President Akufo-Addo's outgoing administration and the incoming government led by President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has officially begun its work following an inauguration ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre.
This event marked the formal initiation of the process to facilitate a seamless handover of power. Outgoing President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of complying with the Presidential Transition Act to maintain Ghana’s reputation as a stronghold of democracy.
“Our commitment to the Transition Act reinforces Ghana’s standing as a nation where democracy flourishes, even during challenging periods,” he said. He called on both teams to approach their responsibilities with openness, collaboration, and mutual respect.
President-elect John Mahama echoed these sentiments, expressing his appreciation for Nana Akufo-Addo's detailed briefings on key national issues, including security and the economy. Mahama reiterated the need for cooperation throughout the transition, highlighting the importance of the Presidential Transition Act in ensuring stability and continuity.
The Joint Transition Team has been tasked with overseeing the transfer of governance, ensuring that essential national projects and policies continue uninterrupted during this period of change.

Additionally, Edward Doe Adjaho has been nominated to serve on the Transitional Advisory Council.
