The Ghana School of Law entrance exams for the 2022/2023 Academic year is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 10 am.

The General Legal Council(GLC), the statutory body mandated to ensure proper standards in legal education, and profession, and its Independent Examinations Committee are therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for admission into the Professional Law Course Programme for the next academic year.

Examination Details

It will be for 90 minutes and will comprise two compulsory questions selected from the six(6) basic subjects required prior to admission to the Ghana School of Law;

Who is eligible to sit for the exams?

1. Persons who have obtained a Bachelor of Law degree from Faculties of Law of Universities in Ghana accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and approved by the General Legal Council

2. Ghanaian holders of Bachelor of Law degrees or equivalent Law degrees from Universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States of America, and other common law jurisdictions, and who have obtained passes in all the courses;

Admission procedure

1. The number of students to be admitted is determined by the General Legal Council for the academic year

2. Applicants may be admitted if they pass the written examination organized by the IEC for this year’s admission upon paying the required fee and submitting supporting documents required online.

3. Only eligible applicants who attain the minimum threshold mark set by the General Legal Council for the 2022/2023 academic year will be offered admission for the year in question to pursue the Professional Law course.

How do you apply?

One can make the application by completing the Entrance Examination Registration Forms Electronically on the Ghana School of Law Website.

Additionally, a Banker’s draft of Five Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis(GHC550) should be payable to the BOARD OF LEGAL EDUCATION to enable applicants to obtain PINS to complete the online Application Form.

Applicants shall need the following documents attached to complete the School’s Application Form online;

A Completed Declaration Form.

A recently taken passport-size photograph of the applicant should be scanned and uploaded to the online Application Form.

Certified True Copy of LLB Certificate.

Certified True Copy of FINAL LLB Transcript.

Copies of other relevant academic certificates and transcripts.

Academic Reference from the LLB awarding University.

Character Reference from a lawyer of not less than 10 years’ standing at the Ghana Bar.

Two photocopies of a valid National Identity Document in the form of a Passport, Ghana Card, or Driver’s license. (The original physical copies of the ID and the uploaded passport-size photograph should be presented for verification when requested students submit them. (After the verification exercise, the original ID will be returned to the applicant)

Admitted students will be required to produce a Police Clearance Certificate.

All registered applicants will be given Examination Index Numbers by the General Legal Council(GLC).

Prospective applicants are however to take note that the closing date for the submission of the completed Application Forms shall be September 7, 2022, at noon.
