A 20-year-old man has died after being stabbed during a dispute over a plastic chair at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi.
The victim, identified as Kwadwo Bright, was allegedly attacked in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025, following a quarrel with a friend.
Witnesses report that the disagreement began at a snooker centre, where both young men claimed ownership of the same chair. Although the matter was initially resolved, the suspect is said to have later confronted Kwadwo and stabbed him in the neck.
The victim’s mother, Georgina Yeboah, described the devastating moment she learned of her son’s condition.
“I heard people screaming about a young man being stabbed and rushed to the scene, only to find my son in a critical state. Although the matter was reportedly settled, the suspect later attacked and stabbed Kwadwo in the neck, resulting in his death this morning,” she said.
Kwadwo was taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police have not yet issued an official statement but confirm that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspect.
