14 suspected illegal miners granted GH¢350,000 bail each by Koforidua Circuit Court
All 14 accused persons have pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

The Koforidua Circuit Court B has granted bail to 14 individuals accused of engaging in illegal mining activities, setting bail conditions at GH¢350,000 each with two sureties.
Per the court's ruling, one of the sureties for each accused must provide proof of ownership of movable property as justification.
All 14 accused persons have pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
According to the prosecution, the suspects were apprehended on May 15, 2025, by officers from the Eastern South Regional Police Command during an operation at Akyem Muoso in the Eastern Region, a known hotspot for illegal mining.
The prosecution further informed the court that a pump-action shotgun was discovered in the possession of Zuberu Nuhoho at the time of arrest. He allegedly failed to produce legal documentation for the firearm.
Additionally, two excavator control panels were recovered from the site, believed to be connected to the illegal mining operation.
The case is expected to continue as investigations progress.
