“March for Justice Demo”: We cannot provide security-Police to NDC

This is contained in a reply from the Ghana Police Service to a letter by the NDC youth wing to the command, seeking to a protest on July 6, 2021, which they term; ‘A march for justice.’
The NDC youth wing had earlier the police in a letter that it will organize a street protest dubbed ‘A March for Justice on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, to demand justice for all persons killed or brutalized by the various security agencies in the country.
In their letter, the NDC youth wing noted that it was writing to the Police in accordance with Public Order Act (491).
The letter further described the supposed protest as a protest to demand justice for all persons killed by the police and military forces.
“The protest is to demand justice for all persons killed and brutalized by state-sponsored thuggery and or adventurism by police and military forces”, the youth wing noted in their earlier statement.
However, in their reply, the Accra Regional Police Command says it cannot provide protection for the planned ‘March for Justice’ demonstration by the youth wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC citing the COVID-19 restrictions.

The Ejura incidence and killing is a fall out of the death of a social activist known as Ibrahim Mohammed popularly called ‘Kaaka’ on Monday, June 28, 2021.
So far, 2 more people have died since ‘Kaaka’ was buried with others receiving treatment at the hospital from the various degrees of injury.
